I am currently the Director of  E-Learning and IT Services at the recently formed Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCSoM), a joint collaboration between Imperial College, London and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

At LKCSoM our focus is on innovation with respect to the use of technology to advance the medical education paradigm. This includes implenting a Blended Learning pedagogy - aka the 'Flipped Classroom', and exploring the use of Virtual Simulation.

I am a pioneer in the integration of E-Learning Systems to support a blended learning pedagogy. My first successful integration was LAMS within the Blackboard Learning Management System at Nanyang Technological University. Most recently, and notably, is the rollout of my Instructional Systems Learning Framework: TERASA (Technology Enhanced Resources, Activities, Support and Assessment.) TERASA guides the design, development and deployment of the LKCSoM integrated 'Learning Ecosystem' which supports a mobile and paperless pedagogy.

Prior to this role, I was Director at the Centre for Excellence in Collaborative Learning at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore, and prior to that was Senior Deputy Director at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). At CELT my responsibilities included: faculty development; design and management of the College of Engineering pilot programme to support distance education; and instructional design and the use of instructional technology to support the conversion of traditional courses to web-based courses via the Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard.

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) has reimagined the E-Learning ecosystem experience to spark the creation of a unique and innovative eLearning DNA; one which aligns Technology and Curriculum through the skilful application of a Blended Learning Pedagogy. The innovations extend to:
  • The creation of robust mobile content delivery mechanisms
  • The exploration of virtual simulations
  • The use of data analytics to support targeted and timely review of learner engagement, and
  • A proposed integration of an online Cognitive Tutor to support personalized learning.
